The Turkey Trot was begun in 1993 by a handful of Gurnee Police and Fire Department personnel and has grown to over 500 participants in 2005. It started off with donations going to Gurnee Community Church’s Turkey Dinner for members of the Navy and also for the local food pantry. Currently, its effect can be felt throughout our community and beyond, including helping to fund pediatric cancer research and donations to the local school district.
